Example searches use synthetic records. Coverage estimates do not prove that every part of an area has been searched. Road data covers England, Scotland and Wales.

Your saved searches are encrypted on your device. There’s no cloud sync or new-phone restore, and records are excluded from backups. Export important trails before deleting the app or changing phones.
How your data is handledDo I need PatrolGrid to use AreaSearch?
No. AreaSearch is a separate iPhone app for solo searches. It does not require a PatrolGrid account and does not include PatrolGrid’s team or grid features.
Where does road search work?
The initial App Store launch is planned for the UK. Current road snapping and road estimates cover England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland is not included in the current road dataset.
Can I search without mobile data?
Usable GPS recording and off-road estimates can continue without mobile data. New Apple Maps tiles, place searches and road geometry can need an internet connection. AreaSearch does not provide downloaded offline maps.
What does the coverage percentage mean?
It estimates progress within your selected boundary. Road mode estimates mapped-road coverage. Off-road mode assumes a chosen total width around usable GPS trail sections and counts overlaps once. Neither proves that an entire area has been searched.
Can I export or restore a search?
You can export the original GPS trail, name, notes and available times as GPX. This is an unencrypted trail copy, not a full app backup: it does not include the boundary or coverage shading and cannot restore a saved search. Saved searches stay on this iPhone.
Will there be a subscription?
No subscription is planned. AreaSearch is intended to cost £4.99 once at its UK launch, as a paid-upfront App Store purchase. Final pricing and availability will be confirmed at release.
